  • Chris,

Why are so many U.S. players in the Open section listed as USA instead of their state designation? It would be good for journalistic purposes to list their states.

  • Now I have the reason why so many U.S. players – not all of them – are listed as USA instead of with their state designation. The software used to submit the rating report to FIDE requires it, according to Bill Goichberg.

  • Hi George,
Actually there is no valid reason for us to show the country in the standings where the state should be. We have the country in a different field for the FIDE report. Mike Atkins set to work on correcting that and so hopefully the next set of standings should have players states listed instead.

  • Chris,

Thanks for the explanation. You are doing a super job providing information on this Website. I for one really appreciate it.

    Chris,
Last year seating was made available for those of us who wanted to observe the GM-levelgames that were being projected on a large screen. Is there a reason why this is not the case this year?

  • Hi Tomas,
Yes, I have asked the hotel for some additional chairs but it doesn’t seem to be high on their priority list. We will push it further this morning now that the onsite display is all set up and working well.

Some interesting games from the PGN files. However, game #65 appears to be inaccurate in that the PGN gives black the 0-1 win, but the standings give Okechukwu Iwu the win over Kenneth Odeh. White has a nice ending there.

The 2 WIM’s from El Salvador, One is listed from ESA and the other ELS, not sure which is correct? Go Sonia & Lorena Zepeda!

The Iwu-Odeh issue I reported earlier has been fixed, so if you have PGN from previous download, get the latest (and the numbers on the left aren’t really associated to the game; ie, #65 isn’t 65 anymore). There’s some pretty interesting games here. Great job making the PGN files available. Congrats to all.

  • Great website, but the pgn page is not available as of 4/14

  • Oops, my fault! I was updating the file last night and deleted the old one and thought I had uploaded the new one. (People may also have noticed problems with the photo viewer but I got those fixed at about 1:00 am.) Just forgot to check the revised pgn file made it.

The new pgn will be uploaded at approx 6:00 pm EST. Apologies for any inconvenience this causes.
