43rd Annual Atlantic Open

The 43rd Annual Atlantic Open was held at the Washington Westin Hotel, 1400 M St NW at Thomas Circle, Washington, DC, from August 26-28, 2011.
The Open Section was walloped by two hurricanes this weekend – Irene, a Category 2, and Eric Most, rated below 2200 when the event began, who had a Category 18 Tournament Performance! Most defeated GMs Shabalov and Kaufman, racking up four wins before drawing with IM Yury Lapshun in the last round. While they both tied for first with 4½-½, winning $1,600 each, Lapshun captured the additional $100 First Place Bonus Prize by finishing just one half of a secondary tiebreak point ahead of Most. GM Sergey Kudrin finished in clear third with 4 points, winning $1,000.
