134th New York State Championship
August 31-September 3, 2012
The 134th Annual New York State Championship was held from August 31-September 3, 2012, in Albany, New York at the Albany Marriott, 189 Wolf Road, Albany.
Grandmaster Alex Stripunsky convincingly won the Open Section, finishing with 5½/6, a point clear of his nearest rivals, IM Bryan Smith and Raven Sturt. Stripunsky collected $2,000 for his weekend’s efforts while Smith and Sturt each took home $750. Sturt collected the title of NY State Champion, including a $100 bonus, as the highest finishing NY resident.
