Liberty Bell Open 2013

45th Liberty Bell Open
January 18-21, 2013

The 45th Annual Liberty Bell Open was held over the Martin Luther King weekend from January 18-21, 2013, at the Sonesta Hotel, 1800 Market St, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The Open Section was won by GM Tamaz Gelashvili who finished with 6.5/7. The only blemish on Gelashvili’s otherwise perfect records was a round 2 draw with GM Zviad Izoria who ended up finishing in second place, a point behind Gelashvil.

This year’s Liberty Bell Open attracted 428 entries. After adding in the 6 re-entries and adjusting for the many lower entry fee entries in the Under 1300, Under 1100 and Under 900 sections, the tournament still drew over 379 full entries towards the prize fund, which caused all the prizes to be raised nearly 19 per cent!

The final standings, with prizes, are now posted for all sections.
