4th Golden State Open
January 17-21, 2013
The 4th Annual Golden State Open was held over the Martin Luther King weekend from January 17-21, 2013, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 45 John Glenn Dr., Concord, California.
GM Chao Li continued his successful American tour with a comfortable victory in the Open Section. Li finished with 7.5/9, a whole point ahead of his nearest rival, GM Gregory Kaidanov, collecting $3100 for his efforts. Kaidanov’s second place finish netted him $1500.
12 year old FM Jeffery Xiong and FM Seth Homa both scored IM norms. Xiong had already secured his IM norm before his last round draw with Li while Homa managed to draw with IM Zhanibeck Amanov in the final round to secure his.
